Our most challenging and vulnerable young people regularly find themselves in situations where the standard care provisions are no longer meeting their particular needs. Local Authorities have limited resources and as a result, often have to remove them from their local communities, which in turn separates them from their vital support systems.
For many young people, this extraction and placement into unfamiliar environments is often damaging and counterproductive.
How we support young people
ResiAction's Crisis Service provides local authorities a, safe and nurturing environment for those acutely in need. This will enable the authority to provide appropriate care for each placement and where appropriate, provide young people with continued access to suitable services and their communities.
A number of our residential services provide emergency crisis service intervention placements which offer short term specialist support aimed at enabling young people to settle back into longer term placements.
Being a specialist crisis intervention service provider, our aim is to respond quickly to turn a crisis situation into a positive experience, by working with the young person, distracting them from their negative thought patterns and behaviours.
Our ultimate goal is to stabilise young people who are struggling to cope.
